Our Initiative
We Are One Lunch Program, Inc.’s initiative is built on a robust Social Enterprise model in the private sector. It is the first of its kind. We collaborate with community stakeholders, local farmers, and educational institutions to ensure every Canadian child receives a full, nutritious lunch every day during school hours. We will do this all while building business, championing entrepreneurship, and job creation that meets the Living Wage.
Our Plan
With over 20 years of planning and several successful pilots in the Windsor Essex and Chatham Kent region, We Are One Lunch Program, Inc. is uniquely positioned to address critical challenges like food insecurity, economic hardship, housing, education, mental and physical health, and drug-related crises. We will do this by positively impacting educational outcomes, physical well-being, and community employment.
Our Model
Our model is designed to address multiple crises facing Canada today
Food Insecurity & Economic Hardship – with 1/3 of all food bank users being children (Food Banks Canada), our program ensures that every child receives a full, nutritious lunch—helping to alleviate hunger and empower families.
Educational Outcomes & Public Health: Research shows that well-nourished children learn better, behave better, and contribute more productively to society. Our program directly supports improved academic performance, mental health, and overall well-being.
Employment & Community Development: By engaging local agri-culinary sectors, we create employment opportunities that contribute to community sustainability and local economic growth.
Inclusive, Stigma-Free Environment: Our approach is designed to be inclusive and sensitive to the needs of all children, ensuring that no child feels singled out or stigmatized for participating in the program.
